Here is the newsletter that I wrote and sent out:

Hey family and friends,

I have some great news to share! I am going on a semester missions trip this fall through World Race, which is the same organization that my sister went on her Gap Year trip with. I will leave around the end of August and will be getting back at the end of November. The route I chose will be going to Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua over those three months. Here is the current itinerary, though it could change.

Guatemala

The first month I will be in Chichicastenago, Guatemala. The different ministry opportunities open while we are there include kids ministry, community outreach, ministry in some of the local schools, and sports ministry.

“You’ll play soccer with the local kids and share Jesus with the local policemen. You may even get a chance to share stories from the Bible in local schools.”

Honduras

The next month our squad will be in Valle de Angeles, Honduras. The ministries that we will be involved with are special needs ministry and kids ministry.

“You will work alongside many local ministries that are serving the community of Valle de Angeles. You may spend time serving at a home for adults with special needs, or working with other local ministries that are serving local children.”

Nicaragua

For the final month, we will be on Ometepe Island, Nicaragua. The different ministries that we will be working with are kids ministry, manual labor, discipleship, and teaching English.

“You’ll build relationships with the local community as you service alongside CICRIN to support the children of this isolated island community.”

If you would like to stay up to date with what is happening while I am on the race I have a blog! You can follow and subscribe to my blog at: abigailasher.theworldrace.org.

I would love to have your support through prayer while I prepare for my trip and while I am gone. I also have to raise $5,300 for the trip. If you would like to support me financially you can donate on my blog or in person. If the trip gets canceled because of COVID-19 I can move to a trip in the spring or you can request a refund.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this! I’m excited for this adventure God has me on! ~ Abigail Asher
